Signs of Depression. What Depression Is And What Is Not

Posted By: Arturo Ovies on February 27, 2009 at 3:58 am

These are the typical symptoms of depression are:

Constant feelings of pessimism and hopelessness

Sad or Anxious Moods which persist for days

Constant feelings of being incapable and of worthlessness

Major difficulty in concentrating and remembering

Complete loss of interest in hobbies and activities previously enjoyed

Low levels of energy; sense of fatigue

Extreme scenarios of sleep – either very little sleep or oversleeping

Decrease in appetite leading to weight loss

Increase in eating leading to weight gain

Entertaining thoughts of suicide

It very difficult for people with depression to shake off their feelings of sadness and misery. They have to be treated with medication and therapy to help them overcome these overwhelming feelings. I know what it feels like since I have been dealing with depression for most of my adult life. This is generally the first of the many signs of depression.

Depression is a very complex emotional state and it has not been easy finding the exact causes of it. However, with the help of years of research, it is being argued that the following factors could have a role to play in a person with depression.

Genetic Factors

It has been found that depression is often inherited. This has led to more research into genetics and what role that has to play in the transmitting of any depression from generation to generation. This however is not uniformly true, adding to the complexity of the problem. Researchers therefore conclude that it is more likely that a person may suffer from depression if any other family member is already suffering from it. However, even if there have been no instances of depression in the family, it does not mean that you will not suffer from it.

Psychological Predisposition

Some persons may be more vulnerable to depression than others. Scientists think that if people already have a certain predisposition for negativity, for instance, like persons who have very low self-esteem, a constantly pessimistic outlook or a persistently negative attitude, those people may be more likely than others to suffer from depression. Also, some are more likely to feel overwhelmed by situations of stress and anxiety, which may also lead to depression.

Physical Factors

Many doctors have noticed a correlation between physical illness and depression. Those that suffer from a heart attack or stroke, Parkinson’s disease, and other hormonal disorders seem to be more likely to exhibit signs of depression. The recovery from a physical illness is often hindered by depression, and often the depression remains even after the physical ailment is resolved.

Environmental Stresses

There is not believed to be any direct link between negative events occurring in one’s life and the occurrence of depression in a person. However, there is general agreement that certain environmental factors and circumstances will play a role in how the person responds emotionally to the negative events. Death, divorce, loss of a job, financial insecurity all can potentially cause depression in a person.

It is very important to stress how deeply depression can impact a person’s life.

Every positive feeling is dampened, being replaced by negative thoughts. The person can no longer feel happy or content or enthusiastic even about the most positive developments in his life. Continuing to do normal routine work becomes difficult and the person finds it extremely tough to get through even one day’s work. Most of the times, the person does not even realize that he is going through these extreme phases and it is up to the family and friends to try and recognize depression in their loved one.

In my case were friends who had noticed some of the noticeable signs of depression and they brought it to my attention.

With effort and help you can overcome many of the signs of depression, it is not a “walk on the park” but doable.

You deserve a better life, so please seek help for your depression. If I could do it, so could do.

A Nostalgic Feeling with Nintendo Commercials

Posted By: Fiona Fidelis on February 27, 2009 at 3:55 am

Nintendo has been a constant in the video game industry over the last 20 years, even though in recent years it hasnt competed as strongly as it used to. Still, there are some beloved games attached to all forms of Nintendo consoles, and along with those brilliant games there have been some great Nintendo commercials. Nintendo was known for making some fun ads, and in some cases theyve created a following of their own as legendary as the games theyre advertising. There are a lot of options online for finding these Nintendo commercials, so here are a few sources to start with.

The number one destination for Nintendo commercials is also the bastion for any other kind of old-school ” or new school ” videos, YouTube. Simply plugging in a search for Nintendo commercials will give you a boat load of results, and youll most likely be entertained for a few hours. There are ads on YouTube spanning from the original Nintendo to the new Wii, so try not to get too addicted while youre at work.

Unfortunately, with all the different videos on YouTube, you can get side-tracked pretty easily. As an alternative you may want to check out RetroJunk.com, which houses essentially everything retro. Just check out the section for commercials and youll be able to find some Nintendo ads quickly, starting in the 80s. You have to dig a little deeper once youre in the 90s, but Nintendo created some of the best and most popular video game commercials in those two decades, so youre bound to find some very easily.

Many people posting in various places online will try and claim that one commercial is better than the other. Most of the time, theyre referring to how funny a commercial is rather than which commercial is technically the best in the context of a marketing tool. Usually the best commercials feature cheesy actors playing the video game being advertised; whether the acting was cheesy on purpose or not is likely a different debate.

The only downside most of these commercials share in common is the poor quality. While newer commercials ” which arent as fun in spirit as the 80s and 90s ” are often pristine, the Nintendo and Super Nintendo commercials are bad rips from VHS tapes. However if you can suffer through the quality issues then youre in for hours of entertainment ” great news if youve recently cancelled your cable to save money.

Use Government Public Records to Find What You’re Looking For

Posted By: Chad Melius on February 27, 2009 at 3:19 am

If you’d like to find information on someone, look no further than government public records. What data can you expect to find on these websites? In a good database, you’ll usually find birth certificates, death certificates, phone numbers, court, criminal and inmate records, vital records, as well as marriage and divorce records. If you want to find someone’s phone number, a birth certificate for yourself, or conduct a criminal background investigation, having access to public records can be a phenomenal resource.

Most people assume that public records are free. It’s true that you can access the records for free one way or another. However, sometimes that means calling up the county office and waiting for hours. The most practical way to get access to public records is to pay a small fee to access a database that has what you’re looking for. This will both speed up your search and improve the accuracy of your search.

What kind of records can you access through these sites? If you wanted to find out if someone has a criminal history, this is a great way to do it. By doing a lookup, you’ll not only find their criminal record, but also their court records, so you know what happened. If they were sentenced to jail, you can also find their inmate records.

If you’re getting married, finding a marriage record can be important for a couple ofdifferent reasons. If this is your second marriage and you didn’t properly complete the paperwork for divorce on your first marriage, you can look it up and see if you’re still legally married. Also a lot of people like to do marriage record searches on their future spouse, just in case.

If you wanted to locate someone’s cemetery, you used to have to literally call every county office in a state in order to find their burial ground. With a government public record search however, you can now easily discover this information. You’ll learn where they died, how they died, as well as where they’re buried. If you want to find out where a member of your family or a friend was buried, public records are the fastest and most effective method to do that.

If you lost your birth certificate, you can also easily find it online. A copy of your birth certificate is an important document to have on hand. A good public records search will help you find a copy of your birth certificate for your files.

If you wanted to find a phone number, looking through phone books is such a hassle. It becomes nearly impossible if you don’t know the city or state. Or what if you wanted to do a search on a phone number to find out who’s calling you? With government public records, just enter the number, and the caller’s name will show up in an instant.

There’s so much information available publicly. You can learn a lot about someone just by doing a public records search. If you’re looking for information on somebody, government public records are a very very powerful resource.
