The Reptile: Strange chiller with a village gal with the bizarre power to change into a snake. Cast includes Noe Willman, Jennifer Daniels, Ray Barrett, and Jacqueline Pearce. (90 minutes, 1966)

Alfie: Well-turned rendition of the Bill Naughton play he additionally inscribed. Caine is marvelous as philandering Cockney playboy who must decide if bachelor life is so bloody remarkable. Cast includes Michael Caine, Shelley Winters, Millicent Marin, Julia Foster, Jane Asher, Shirley Anne Territory, Graham Stark, and Murray Melvin. (114 minutes, 1966)

King of Jazz: Million dollar musical revue, shot in 2-color Technicolor format, is filled with bigger-than-life production numbers and remarkable melodies. Highlights contain Walter Lantz’s animation pattern, Joe Venuti’s swing violin, youthful Bing Crosby with the Tempo Boys, and, obviously, Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” which in early Technicolor is more a rhapsody in turquoise. Cast includes Paul Whiteman and His Orchestra, John Boles, Jeanette Loff, The Tempo Boys Bing Crosby, Al Rinker, and Harry Barris. (93 minutes, 1930)

The Ploughman’s Lunch: Difficult, skeptical condemnation of British behaviors, ethics and affairs of state, focusing on the exercises of completely selfish stereo journalist Pryce and others throughout the Falklands battle. The film is relatively perceptive, within the restraints of its outlook. Cast includes Jonathan Pryce, Tim Curry, Rosemary Harris, Blunt Finlay, and Charlie Dore. (100 minutes, 1983)

Barton Fink: Self-relient N.Y. playwright Turturro comes to Hollywood in 1941 to inscribe a screenplay, and finds it a living hell, in more ways than one. Check out vintage Hollywood, filled with marvelous detail and astounding scenes. At a vital point the film takes an acute left turn toward the weird, and never returns. Cast includes John Turturro, John Goodman, Judy Davis, Michael Lemer, John Mahoney, Tony Shalhoub, David W arrilow, and Christopher Mumey. (117 minutes, 1991)

The Last Time: Country bumpkin Ferder is moved to the N.Y. home outside of a business where sales exec. Keaton prides himself on his take-no-prisoners strategies. He mentors the ignorant newcomer and ends up in bed with his attractive spouse. There’s more going on than meets the eye albeit the setup is permanently evident. Keaton is excellent. Cast includes Michael Keaton, Brendan Fraser, Amber Valletta, Daniel Stem, Neal McDonough, and William Ragsdale. (96 minutes, 2007)
