The product is fine, except for the select bottoms. They are hard to find, because they are even with the earpiece and one has to search for the right one. Interestingly, when the models 110 and 120 go out of range you get static, but the 180 just cuts off (which is slightly better I think). The range is essentially exactly the same, maybe 70 feet for the models 110 and 120, and 72 feet for the model 180. I can walk into other rooms on the same floor without drop-off, though if I go upstairs from the base station, I do encounter some occasional zones where reception drops off. I can’t say as how good the reception would be if I went outside to deck or yard — an occurrence unlikely at the moment, since it’s sub-zero outside where I live. I have adjusted to this by switching the headphones around so the volume control is on the side away from where I typically lie down. Second, I thought how nice it would be if the headset had a line out so I could choose to connect a speaker at a remote location if I wanted not to be wearing the headset.
However, I have not tried them outside. As at least one other reviewer pointed out, the controls are difficult to use with the headphones in use. There is even much more of a 5:1 effect than I get with my room system (which is also fantastic). So – I wouldn’t even consider any other model, or for that matter, any other brand than the Sennheiser. Overall, I’ve been really happy with this purchase. First, it was really easy to set up the headphone system. I have used these headphones about 6 times for usually about 2 hours each time (normally playing Xbox 360). The surround sounds are incredible. It makes watching movies with outstanding sound tracks a real treat. They are open air design like the 180’s and have very excellent sound quality.
