A type of behind the ear and (BTE) hearing aid that leaves the hearing now open is called an open fit hearing aid. Open fit hearing aids are sometimes called open ear hearing aids or open canal (OC) hearing aids. Open fit hearing aids have a design similar to behind the ear hearing aids, but they have a small, clear tube that extends into the ear canal.
