Well whenever we talk about different searching mechanisms, we frequently use the words look up and directories. These two words are closely associated. A directory is some collection of records. These records contain person’s information such as name, address, phone number, email address or business information. Moreover, look up is a broader term which is used to define the search procedure which is implied to find a particular record.
