LDL/HDL Ratio: An Ominous Or Auspicious Sign

5th August, 2009, Los Angeles California – LDL/HDL ratio is one of the ways in which cholesterol levels can be determined in ones body. LDL which is the low density lipoprotein is said to be the bad cholesterol and HDL which is the high density lipoprotein is said to be the good cholesterol. HDL picks up extra cholesterol in the blood and returns it to the liver. On the other hand, LDL passes into the blood streams and gets accumulated over there. This results in narrowing and hardening of the arteries which is known as atherosclerosis.
